According to historians, the Egyptian King Muqawqis gifted this sword to Prophet Muhammad. "Lā fatā illā Alī, lā sayfa illā Zulfiqār" (There is no hero but Ali, and no sword but Zulfiqar). It is said that upon Ali's will, the sword was thrown into the sea in Najaf.
